The good stuff

The auto-enhance feature is a game-changer for lazy editing. I had a bunch of old vacation pics that were underexposed and washed out. One click, and boom - colors popped, shadows lifted, everything looked natural. No fiddling with sliders. And the auto-crop tool? That one’s actually smart. It scans your photo for horizons and straightens them automatically. I used it on a few group shots where someone was leaning off-center, and it fixed the angle without me having to do anything. Nice touch.

Face recognition is also surprisingly accurate. Tagging people in photos is fast - just click the info button, and it suggests names based on past tags. It doesn’t catch every face, but it gets most of them right after a few tries. Places is hidden, sure, but once you zoom out, you can see all your trips laid out on a map. I found a whole folder of pics from my trip to Portland just by scrolling through the year view. Pretty cool.

The not-so-good

And yeah, there are some rough edges. The biggest bummer? You can’t manually geo-tag photos anymore. If you’re into precise location tracking, this is a hard no. Also, sharing to Facebook and Flickr is gone. Not a dealbreaker for me, but if you’re still using those, you’ll need another app. And the interface? It’s clean, but it took me a couple days to stop accidentally clicking the wrong thing. There’s no “undo” for some actions, which felt jarring at first.

Also, if you’re a pro - like, you edit RAW files or do serious color grading - this isn’t for you. It’s more for casual use. But then again, iPhoto wasn’t either. So maybe that’s fair.
