The good stuff

The interface is barebones, sure, but that’s kind of its charm. No distractions. I added a few clients, set up expense categories, and just started logging things. The way it auto-calculates totals and generates basic reports - like monthly income vs. expenses - saved me at least 10 minutes a week. One moment that clicked was when I ran a profit report before tax season and realized I’d forgotten a couple of big client payments. It didn’t nag me, but it did show me where I’d been sloppy. That’s valuable. Also, no trial period or hidden fees. Just download, install, use. Free means I don’t have to worry about subscriptions or bloat.

The not-so-good

It doesn’t handle multiple currencies, which kinda sucks if you’re doing international gigs. And the export options are… limited. You can save reports as PDFs, but nothing fancy like CSV or Excel. I had to retype one report into a spreadsheet because I wanted to share it with my accountant. Also, there’s no cloud sync. If you switch computers, you’re on your own. And yeah, the developer’s unknown - that makes me pause a little, though it hasn’t crashed on me yet. If you need real-time collaboration or mobile access, this isn’t the app. It’s strictly desktop, Windows-only.

If you’re a solo freelancer or micro-business owner who needs a no-frills way to track income and expenses without paying for software, PHPFact - Download for Windows is worth a try.
